Since joining the Board in 2013, TOM GIBBONS has chaired several committees, which have provided leadership in governance, contracting, change control, and green infrastructure. Accomplishments include writing new bylaws, revising the Contracting Manual, creating one of the most rigorous change control procedures in the state, and leading the organization towards a more sustainable future by partnering with Rutgers University to pilot our first green infrastructure projects in Jersey City.
Prior to joining the JCMUA, Mr. Gibbons was Chairman of Jersey City’s Environmental Commission where he also advocated for green infrastructure and urban sustainability. He has spent the past 30 years as a Program Manager for several prominent environmental and engineering companies rising to the level of Assistant Vice President. He is now a licensed Realtor-Associate® in New Jersey.
Tom holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Lafayette College, where he also did research on acid rain mitigation. He is certified by the Project Management Institute as a Project Management Professional PMP® and the US Green Building Council as a Green Associate. Tom serves on the Board of Directors at the Association of New Jersey Environmental Commissions (ANJEC) and on the Board of Trustees at the Hamilton Park Neighborhood (HPNA). He is also Co-Chair of START, which is Jersey City’s Municipal Action Team for Stormwater Treatment and Resiliency.
